Thu, 8 March 2007 Richard Wagner composed his Symphony in C Major at the age of nineteen. It is clearly the work of a young man influenced by the towering figure and musical innovations of Ludwig van Beethoven. The symphony was given its premiere during the composer's youth, and then remained dormant for decades until Wagner himself resurrected it, leading the orchestra as a birthday gift for his wife Cosima. This private performance took place at Teatro La Fenice in Venice a few months before the composer's death.Comments[2] |
Thank you so much for shearing with us this wonderful symphony.
This was the first time I heard it and it was amazing.
Doing some research, I found out that there is also a second symphony composed by Richard Wagner.
Does anyone know if there is a recording available ? If there is, could you eventually share it with us ?
Thanks a lot !

Andrew

Thanks for posting a comment, Andrew.
Yes, there is a second symphony and a lot of youthful "unknown" music by Richard Wagner. I suppose that if there is interest in this kind of thing that a new podcast should be put together.
